Finding Discount College Student Airfare
By David Faulkner
We all need to have discounted airfare to afford to travel, but college students have an especially hard time scrapping together enough to fly home for holidays or during the summer. The best place to find discount college student airfare is to go online. There are many places online including wholesale ticket sales that offer discounts to everybody. Occasionally even a college student can get discount airfare for just being a student. These types of airfare are generally around the beginning of the semesters.
When you are searching online for discount college student airfare you will need to know the best sites to go to. One of those is Travelocity, with another being Travelzoo. There are literally hundreds of discount airfare sites available. There are also tips to help you navigate these sites.
• If you are a college student looking for discount airfare then you will need to follow a few things.
• Check out each site. See when they have special deals or discounts. You might even want to sign up for newsletters from various sites.
• When on the site you will want to have flexible dates if at all possible.
• Check for travel dates that include or begin on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays.
• Search for flights at several times of the year. Sometimes when you are looking a ways out the prices are lower, but occasionally you can find last minute deals on websites that are even lower than you were able to find before.
• When you have found a trip you are satisfied with for a discount college student airfare you can reserve it up to twenty-four hours.
• You will also need to have a credit card to reserve or purchase with. If you are going to use a credit card that does not have your name on it you may be charged up to forty dollars more on some sites.
• Most companies offer electronic tickets and my charge you for the delivery of paper tickets.
• Be aware of hidden fees that may apply on some of these sites. They don't always tell you about all the taxes until you actually purchase the tickets or unless you read the small print.
Once you follow these tips, you will be well on your way to finding discount college student airfare for yourself or your child. There are many places online to search for your airfare and it may seem daunting, but you can check as many as you can or find a site that compares several at once.
