Save Money And Fly Cheaper By Learning How To Obtain The Lowest Airfare Prices Before Your Vacation
By Tim Gorman
If you're looking for the lowest airfare prices, then you need to get on the Internet. Cheap airfares can be found at travel sites, sites run by the airlines and at search engines sites that specialize in travel. All three options are good sources for the best airfares.
It's often best to start with one of the search engines. These sites collect information from all the various travel sites using robots. Once you type in your intended travel destination and dates, the relevant information is presented to you and you can decide which airfare suits you best.
There are also large travel sites such as Expedia.com and Travelocity.com. Recently these big sites have blocked travel search engines from accessing their databases, so it's quite possible you'll find great travel deals on these sties that the search engines don't have access to. So if you want to find out what they're offering, you need to go directly to their site. This is always a good idea, because quite often you'll find even better airfares. The big sites often buy tickets in bulk, and then sell them individually at cheap prices. If they're having trouble shifting a particular batch of tickets, they offer them at rock bottom prices.
Airline sites are also good for finding the lowest airfare prices. It's often worthwhile logging onto the airline sites a few times, at different times of the day, because their discount airfares can change between the morning and evening.
Another great way of getting cheap airfares is to be flexible with your travel dates and times. Sometimes moving your trip forward or back by a day can make a big difference to the airfare. You may also find it helps to travel during the off peak season, when airlines are having trouble filling seats and so offer discounts to fill up their flights. Sometimes the cheapest way to travel is to buy two one-way tickets with different airlines, rather than a return ticket with one airline.
If you're planning to buy other travel items, such as accommodation or car rental, then you may find you get the cheapest airfare by bundling everything together into a package. The key to find the lowest airfare prices is to do your research. The more you look around, the better your chance of finding a great deal.
