Cheap Air Ticket Plans
By Emily Pherera
Air travel is expensive compared to other modes of travel throughout the world. This has reduced the number of people traveling by air to a great extent. The concept of cheap air travel originated in the United States in the early 1990s and afterwards spread to the other parts of the world. Conventional air travel involves many kinds of passenger services. Airline companies offer cheap air tickets mainly by doing away with such in-flight services. Adopting this strategy, many companies introduced new low cost airline plans with cheap ticket prices and limited services.
Airline companies adopt different strategies in offering cheap air travel. One way of doing this is to implement a simple fare scheme. Fares become higher as the plane gets filled up and the departure date nears. This compels people to make early reservations to ensure seat availability. Unreserved seating encourages passengers to board early on and quickly. For a passenger who wants to take a cheap flight, the best thing is to book as far in advance as possible.
The best way to book cheap air tickets is to do it online. There are plenty of discount ticket websites offering cheap air tickets. Some of those websites also offer many other related services like cars, hotels, resorts etc. This method is better than approaching a travel agent as far as cost is concerned. Buying cheap air tickets from travel agents is not a good idea because they always add their profit to the price of your ticket.
Although there are many common characteristics that apply to most low-cost air services, some airline companies try to differentiate themselves from others by offering facilities like allocated seating, free in-flight catering etc. While most companies use a single type of aircraft like Boeing 737 or Airbus A320 for cheap services, many have started using more aircraft types for such services. Though most airline companies offer cheap airfare by reducing operating costs, there are others who operate cheap airline services in spite of spending relatively high operating costs.
